On 19th of August 2020, #BeActive day was held at the Monastery “St. Ivan Rilski” in German, Bulgaria, organized in partnership with the Sunday School at the “Nativity of Christ” Temple, Sofia, Mladost 3, the Association of Bulgarians suffering from asthma (ABBA) and the Bulgarian sports development association. Over 30 children had the opportunity to have fun, study together and enjoy wonderful summer emotions, many sports and educational activities. Hieromonk Pimen, responsible for the monastery expressed his support for this type of activity, which started in the German monastery three years ago and has become a wonderful tradition: “It is inherent in man to develop his physical abilities in childhood so that he can have proper development as an individuals.”
The event was held in the framework of #SPORTolerance project – an initiative of the “Bulgarian sports development association”, supported by the Erasmus+ program of the European Union, which aims to contribute to the further development of human capacity in sport through implementation of a set of mobility for sports coaches, which will include both educational modules and modules for exchange of good practices in the field of using sports to prevent radicalization and building tolerance and solidarity. Project will use and further develop in the field of tolerance and solidarity the non-formal educational methodology Education Through Sport ETS that is an illustration of using sport as learning tool and thereby taking steps to stretch sport beyond the activity itself.
